Review: No Rest for the Wicca, Toni LoTempio

No Rest for the WiccaCommuning with the dead is an everyday occurrence for PI Morgan Hawkes. A half-Wiccan witch who can commune with spirits of those caught between worlds, Morgan uses her talents to exorcise the trapped ghost or demon as part of the Paranormal Investigation Squad–until a string of murders with a voodoo slant prompts the Special Forces Agency to ask for her assistance.

Someone’s killing pureblood witches- and the SFA’s convinced Morgan’s voodoo heritage could be instrumental in solving the mystery. Teamed with dashing SF agent Cole St. John–an Inheritor Vampire that sets her blood racing–the two of them must fight their deep attraction as they race to stop a madman from unleashing a demonic force upon the world.

Morgan is a homicide investigator that ends up being responsible for her partner’s death and transferred for another department. In the paranormal investigations she thinks she’s found her call, especially being a half Wiccan. When assigned to a mission with a new partner she starts doubting herself, as she is still emotionally scared about the death of her last partner. But this new one is different: a vampire, the kind of vampire that can live with humans without a problem.

When someone in her family is in danger, she sees the need to take the mission, partner and all, to go undercover in a way to try to discover who is behind the attacks to Wiccans like her.

I thought this book was awesome. Really! The heroine was so strong and I couldn’t put this story down. The interaction between Morgan and Cole, her partner, was somehow cliché, but had an intelligence that is not characteristic of that kind of character relationship in books.

Morgan is a character so well built that you start to understand how she thinks as if she were real, a friend who would seeks your opinion—and, oh boy, and you will find yourself wanting to give your opinion to Morgan!

The narrative goes on without you feeling it, and the book is well edited and almost doesn’t have errors or typos. A good example of how to be self-published successfully.
