The question for this week is:
Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?
Guta: I never really thought about that, but I think the genres I trully avoid at all costs are self-help and parody. Self-help for obvious reasons: I don’t like the idea of someone writing advice as if every problem someone faces is the same as another person’s problem. People are individuals and their problems are too. About parody, I don’t like the forced humor behind them and find very difficult to like a book with this genre. I don’t like horror very much ’cause I become scared very easily LOL But I appreciate some books of this genre, so I don’t really avoid it.
Maeva: Self-help and memoirs. I tried, I tried really hard, but they just are not my cup of tea! They bother me and I usually give up on reading them, I’m more a fiction gal. I do read some non fiction, but the majority of books I read are fiction, so…

What genre I avoid? I guess everything that’s not fiction.. But I also avoid the fiction genre that is not in my age group or interest. Like, I don’t read children or middle grade books. And even then, I also don’t read poorly written books as much as I can because it’s just too painful for me to waste any effort reading a book that was just put out there for the sake of putting something out there.

I try to avoid self help. Religious books. I just can’t take the preaching. It becomes too much for me.

Religion. I am not one to preach my beliefs at anyone and I don’t like others doing it to me, not even via a book.

It seems no one likes the Self-help books. Who could? What’s makes them an expert? I steer clear of religion & extreme horror

Self-help, definitely a genre worth avoiding. The only true genre I absolutely steer cleal of is romance and espeically adult romance (their covers are horrible). *shutters*
